Responses to housing questionnaire from Homeless No More
Homeless No More is a local not-for profit organization working and advocating for solutions for individuals and families struggling with the issue of precarious living conditions. It asked all mayoral candidates to reply to specific questions. Pauline Raven's responses are printed here as submitted on October 2, 2024.
Cause for Applause
An all candidates forum was held Tuesday, September 24. Quickly following, Pauline Raven's social media and email received a string of unsolicited, positive responses. For example, Heather Constance Stephens wrote: "A laudable performance Tuesday that showed a deep knowledge of the municipal landscape. You presented a clear and comprehensive plan for working cohesively on matters that impact all citizens of Kings County."
Mayoral candidates were provided with three minutes to make an introductory statement, and an additional three minutes for a closing statement. Otherwise, responses were solicited from all candidates to questions that were not provided in advance.
Raven looks to bring spirit of collaborative leadership to Kings, N.S., mayor role
...Why I want to be mayor: “We can do better. How? By building on the strengths of the new council and welcoming the many skills within our communities. There are ways to ‘do politics’ that are better, more open, and truly collaborative. I am ready and competent to lead that effort.”
Official Nomination Party for Raven Campaign
On Thursday, August 29, at 4pm, Pauline and her official agent, Lorne Saul Demer will visit the Returning Officer to sign the necessary documents to make Pauline Raven's bid to be the next Mayor of the County of Kings official.
"Our campaign put fundraising on hold until this crucial step was complete," says Raven. I am honoured to be among those seeking to qualify as a candidate and looking forward to celebrating with supporters this Thursday evening at the Greenwich Community Hall." The hall is located on Greenwich Road, just off Highway One and opposite Noggins Corner Farm.
The celebration will commence at 7pm, immediately following the campaign's 4th campaign meeting.
IN IT TO WIN IT!
Raven has a strong background in local government grounded in eight years as a Kings County Councillor. “All my years in the thick of things on county council convinced me of one thing,” says Raven, “namely, that we have all we need to do even better—if we have the will. I have that will.”
